Why not giving it a try to sketch for 5 days! You could be surprised how much fun it is. No expectations, no judging, no pressursê!
Day 1 – Drawing a building
It can be your own house, the neighbor’s house while looking out of your window or you might hop into town and draw your favorite building.
To get you motivated I am taking you on a little sketchbook tour, including my best and worst pages! I AM NO EXPERT, and that is the point! Sketching is for EVERONE!
I am starting with the sketchbook tour. At minute: 5:20 you can sketch along with me. It is a simple way how to draw a building. (this recording was made for an art chat.)
If you have never sketched a building, this might seem complicated to you but believe me, it is not! Give it a try!

Day 2 – When the common becomes your muse
Part of this art journaling challenge is also to get inspired by common objects, Something as ordinary as a trashcan or a rake can suddenly be interesting once you draw them.
Last week it was pouring down with rain. I sat in our pergola and decided to sketch our trash can, compost, and rake. I actually realized that I love the wiry parts of the rake..
Choose a part around your house that might not be the most inspiring at first and sketch it. (I used the same technique as for the buildings)

Or: I don’t know what to draw!!!
Day 3 – An intersting object
Today we are concentrating on an interesting object in our art journaling challenge. Walk around the house and search for a muse. I love the umbrellas before my neighbor’s house.
Day 4 – Honor to your home
There are so many lovely places right in our home! We spend so much time in the kitchen, cooking talking during dinners.. why not draw a busy shelf, the stove, or for that matter any other room of your house!
Day 5 – Last day of our art journaling challenge – Be brave!
This might be a bit scary but please, please, do NOT skip this part!!!
Take your sketchbook and go to your favorite coffee shop or Restaurant! Draw anything that inspires you. If you love to draw people, go for it, If this is hard for you, draw your coffee, teacup, or cocktail you are having!
Sitting in a restaurant in Rome I sketched the olives and cheese served with an apéro!
I love to get together with friends to sketch..if you do not have any, look for sketching groups on FB in your region.
Well done! You made it!!!! I hope you enjoyed it and that you will continue celebrating your every day by sketching it!
